Senior Design Engineer – Mechatronic Systems & Connected Devices

The SHL Engineering Solutions unit in Taiwan is seeking an experienced engineer with a strong background in developing mechatronic devices at an industrial scale. The candidate should be a strong individual who is looking to take on new challenges to develop innovative solutions for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will develop innovative connected devices for applications in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry within a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • You will design, implement, test and assess technical solutions at the system level from the first concept up to the launch of the commercial product
  • You will define and control all technical aspects of the design process based on customer requirements, timeline and cost
  • You will coordinate all technical aspects of a project at the system level in close collaboration with team members from software, electronics and manufacturing
  • You will interact regularly with other departments in the organization, as well as with suppliers and customers at a technical level
  • You will drive continuous improvement activities within the design team

Your Qualifications

  • BA/MA degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Degree program and/or work experience overseas (Europe, Australia, Americas) is an asset
  • 5+ years of work experience in the design, development and launch of complex mechatronic devices and systems
  • Experience in device/system designs that incorporate injection molded components, kinematic principles and mechanisms, integration and control of various sensors and actuators, design for cost and manufacturability
  • Familiarity of other disciplines such as Electrical, Firmware and Software Engineering at the system level
  • Understanding and experience with principles in systems testing and design verification
  • CAD and FEA proficiency (preferably SolidWorks)
  • Experience in Project Management and use of corresponding software tools
  • Previous exposure to highly regulated industries (medical, pharmaceutical) and knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. ISO13485, GMP, FDA CFR21) is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Diligent, reliable and target oriented working attitude
  • Ability to pursue and drive projects independently
